The Kampung Spirit National Choral Movement
This project outlines a scalable, high-impact cultural arts roadshow designed to reintroduce the historic "Kampung Spirit" to modern Singaporean youth through original retro-swing and cha-cha productions.
Monkee Business aim to drive social value through a sustainable commercial framework. The objective is to achieve a documented entry into the Singapore Book of Records for the "Largest Children's Cross-Cultural Retro-Swing Sing-A-Long" by aggregating real-time assembly headcounts across cooperating schools.
Core National Education Alignment
Character and Citizenship Education (CCE): Cultivates appreciation for racial harmony, community resilience, and cross-cultural empathy.
Aesthetic and Physical Literacy: Enhances timekeeping, body percussion, and rhythmic agility via inclusive, scaffolded peer mentorship.
OUR ORIGINAL MUSIC & EDUCATIONAL VALUE
The centerpiece of this roadshow features two original, catchy English-language tracks composed and owned entirely by Monkee Business: "Kampong Singapore" and "Your Legacy, Our Identity (Cha Cha)."
These high-energy, retro-swing and cha-cha songs serve as the driving musical backdrop to teach children about community unity, national identity, and body coordination in a fun, active way.
Multi-Cultural Activity & Call-and-Response Strategy
Because both proprietary songs are written in English, the workshop introduces Singapore's other national languages (Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil) through targeted, easy-to-learn spoken call-and-response games and rhythmic visual tools during the learning modules:
Track 1: "Kampong Singapore" (English Harmony Focus):
An upbeat, happy anthem using easy English phrases. The main chorus brings everyone together with the lines: "One people, one nation, one Singapore... side by side we shine more and more!" Children use egg shakers and rhythmic swaying to match the swing tempo.
Linguistic Spoken Interludes (Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil Chants):
Between the musical sections, the instructor introduces traditional, high-impact cultural greetings and unity catchphrases in Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil. Children repeat these short phrases using playful hand gestures and collective group rhythmic stomping to drive cross-cultural awareness.
Track 2: "Your Legacy, Our Identity (Cha Cha)" (The Unified Grand Finale):
A fast-paced, rhythmic grand finale where the children combine their rhythmic tools (rhythm sticks and tambourines) with their newly learned multi-cultural phrases. Students perform a synchronized percussive routine over the original English cha-cha arrangement, physically demonstrating the beauty of multi-cultural harmony.
